Integrating Maryland’s strengths and resources to build health technology companies
Dr. Deborah Hemingway, Chief Executive Officer of MDC, LLC, will lead a panel discussion on building health and medical technology startups by bringing together local researchers, clinicians, business leads, and funding sources. MDC is a startup studio in an Opportunity Zone in Baltimore, which works with inventors to remove hurdles and accelerate the development and commercialization of their technologies from the earliest stages. The audience will hear from panelists representing startup companies at various stages (Surgical Vision Systems, LLC; NeuroSonics Medical, Inc.; Sonosa Medical, Inc.; NextStep Robotics, Inc.), and how the technical development, business development, and fundraising are integrated by startup studios like MDC. Our goal is to harness the strengths of the Maryland ecosystem – the research talent, intellectual property, and industry leaders – to develop impactful technologies that can transform lives both here and abroad.
